Teams of up to 3 face off in a cosmic backyard battle. There is a $125 Registration Fee. Teams are selected on a first come, first served basis — you have 72 hours from time selected to pay your fee. Teams must prepare: 🍖 1 Main Protein * Must be cooked on a grill, smoker, or deep fryer 🥘 2 Side Dishes Can side dishes be prepared ahead of time? Yes. Side dishes may be prepared in advance and cooked using traditional cooking methods. Only the competition protein must be cooked on-site using a grill, smoker, or deep fryer. ⸻ Will teams provide food for judging? Yes. Teams must prepare tasting plates for the official judges. ⸻ Can teams sell food? Yes! Teams are encouraged to sell full-size plates to attendees throughout the event and keep their proceeds. ⸻ How does People’s Choice work? Each team will be provided with the same cut of chicken to prepare for public tasting. Attendees will sample the chicken and vote for their favorite team. Thank you for participating in the inaugural KaySoCosmic’s Cook-Out Cookoff! These rules are designed to ensure a fair, safe, and enjoyable experience for all competitors, sponsors, and attendees. ⸻ Team Registration • Team registration fee is $125 per team. • Teams must submit payment within 72 hours of acceptance to secure their spot. • Registration fees are non-refundable. • Only 20 teams will be selected to compete. • Each team is limited to 3 team members. ⸻ Event Information 📅 July 25, 2026 📍 100 Top Lane Piedmont, SC 29673 🕚 Team Setup Begins: 11:00 AM 🚪 Gates Open: 4:00 PM 🍽️ Official Judging Begins: 6:00 PM ⸻ Competition Requirements Each team must prepare: 🍖 One (1) Main Protein • Must be cooked on-site using a grill, smoker, or deep fryer. • No pre-cooked proteins are permitted. • Teams may choose the protein used for the Judges’ Favorite competition. 🥘 Two (2) Side Dishes • Side dishes may be prepared in advance. • Side dishes may be cooked using traditional cooking methods. • Sides do not have to be cooked on a grill, smoker, or deep fryer. ⸻ Judges’ Favorite Competition • Teams must prepare tasting plates for the official judging panel. • Judging plates must include: * One main protein * Two side dishes • All judging plates must be ready by 6:00 PM. • Judges’ decisions are final. 🏆 Grand Champion (Judges’ Favorite) 💰 $2,500 Cash Prize ⸻ People’s Choice Competition • Each team will be provided with the same cut of chicken. • Teams must prepare and serve the provided chicken to attendees as tasting samples. • Attendees will vote for their favorite sample. • The team receiving the most votes will be named People’s Choice Champion. 🏆 People’s Choice Champion 💰 $1000 Cash Prize ⸻ Food Sales • Teams are encouraged to sell full-size plates to attendees. • Teams may determine their own menu pricing. • Teams are responsible for collecting and managing their own sales. • Teams retain 100% of their food sales revenue. ⸻ Equipment & Setup Teams are responsible for providing their own: • Tent • Tables • Chairs • Cooking equipment • Serving utensils • Food service supplies • Generators (if needed) ⸻ Health & Safety • Teams are responsible for preparing and serving food safely. • Raw proteins must be stored at safe temperatures. • Teams must maintain a clean cooking area throughout the event. • Unsafe food handling practices may result in disqualification. ⸻ Clean-Up • Teams must clean their designated area before departing. • All trash must be disposed of properly. • Teams leaving excessive trash or damage may be prohibited from future participation. ⸻ Sportsmanship • Respect fellow competitors, judges, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees. • Unsportsmanlike conduct, harassment, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. • Event organizers reserve the right to remove any participant who violates these rules. ⸻ Rain or Shine The event will take place rain or shine unless severe weather conditions create an unsafe environment for participants and attendees.
